My favourite reads at Christmastime. There are so many films that people love to watch around Christmas (Nativity and The Santa Clause being my favourites!) but I also have a few favourite Christmas books that I pull out of storage every year. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickons is my favourite, so much so that I own three copies! The one in the photograph above is a beautifully illustrated version by Robert Ingpen, which I got at his studio in Anglesea on the Great Ocean Road. Little Women is actually a Christmas favourite of mine as well, I love to rewatch the film every December. Louisa May Alcott wrote some sweet little stories about Christmas, some including the characters from Little Women. I absolutely love the cover design on this book, it is just so Christmassy! I got this version of A Christmas Carol in Belgium one year. Despite the rather garish cover design (not a favourite) it is actually the version of the story that I read the most as it is the easiest to hold! I love this gorgeous little story by P.L. Travers. I bought it at the tiny little bookstore at the Abbotsford Convent. It is about a little fox finding out the true meaning of Christmas and couldn't be more adorable if it tried. I bought this version of A Christmas Carol in Italy. I like that it has the English on the opposite page, so I can cheat! A classic, and actually a very different book than what I thought it would be. That's what comes from only having watched Barbie and the Nutcracker. This one is hilarious and a nice little addition to the pile.
