Breakfast in Europe is not the same as in Australia. Due to our early visit to the Reichstag, Mel and I didn't eat till after we had been through. We went to a little cafe nearby, where the only offerings were sweets in the form of cake, donuts and muffins. Desperate for food, I ate some cake, yet still it felt strange. Not something to have every day, that's for sure!

This place, the heart of German politics, was pretty amazing. We visited it early our first morning, after applying for an invitation back in Amsterdam. In order to visit, you need to apply to the German government for permission. It is totally worth it though. The fog on the windows prevented us from seeing much of the view but the sun rising up behind the glass left that fact out of our minds. Fair warning: this post contains a LOT of photographs. How could I not capture this amazing place?
My first view of Berlin, like the majority of places I visited in Europe, was through a train window. I would sit, listening to music, or reading a novel and there it would be, a whole different country. On one train trip. I still find that difficult to comprehend. After all, I do live on an island. A rather large island, but still.
