Harajuku Girl

Crazy cute in the middle of Tokyo.

Takeshita Street proved difficult to find surprisingly. For those who, like me, are woefully unsure about where to go to find "Harajuku", don't follow Google Maps. I managed to find a lovely side street filled with houses, but I couldn't even imagine it being the Harajuku I had seen pictures of. Those who have been to Tokyo will be laughing at me right now, because if you take the train, Takeshita Street (the 'Harajuku' I was actually looking for) is directly across the street from the train station. I, however, decided to walk from the Meiji Jingu Shrine and made myself more confused than ever by exiting out of the wrong gate entirely. Story of my life as a traveller I think.

Once I found Takeshita Street though, I knew immediately that I had found the right place. It was packed to the brim with people, mostly teenagers, all shopping for the quintessentially cute products available. I bought myself a crepe filled with cream, banana and strawberries (a must) and wandered up and down the street, taking in as much as I could. I did see some of the famous "Harajuku Girls" that Gwen Stefani always sung about, but was too shy to snap a picture of them. 

I loved the atmosphere in Harajuku so much that I returned the next day just so I could experience it all over again.
