The Grand Canal is the bustling centre of Venice, a flurry of activity that includes boats, tourists and locals. The Grand Canal is probably the most famous thing to see in Venice, other than the gondolas of course. Last time I saw the canal, I was sixteen and in a gondola with students and teachers from my school. This time it was just myself and Giulia, but that made it even more special. I ate pistachio gelato while we watched the boats float by. There's just something about Venice that makes it seem totally okay to while away your time eating ice cream and staring off in to the distance.
