THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH

My first time experiencing the joys of Disneyland.
My day at Disneyland Tokyo was wet, windy and cold, but it was lots and lots of fun. I have never been to Disneyland before and am not exactly big on theme parks in general (I never really did understand the attraction of visiting the Gold Coast year after year, once was enough), but I was very excited to experience this place. I love Disney films (Aristocats is a big favourite).

Tokyo Disneyland is huge! I walked and walked and walked and I am only partially certain that I actually explored it all, I certainly didn't get around to going on all the rides. The very first thing I did was buy myself a Minnie Mouse beanie. I got a beanie instead of the traditional ears headband because it was freezing! It was much more practical and I think it was a lot cuter too, it still had the trademark ears. Without any kind of costume or headwear I was feeling a little like the odd one out!

Disneyland is loud and colourful with fun around every corner. I had to wait in a couple of lines for things but that really wasn't too bad (I wouldn't have been so keen on it in Summer though I think). My favourite ride was the rollercoaster on the mountain in Westernland, Big Thunder Mountain. That's about as much of a rollercoaster I can take.

It was very exciting when it was time for the parade. The music was blaring, the crowds were singing along and this was all before the parade even started. It was a little disappointing to watch the parade in the rain because the characters had to wear protective covers over their costumes but it was better than not getting to see it at all I suppose. I didn't get to see fireworks that night unfortunately, even though I waited and waited. It just wasn't meant to be. Despite this minor disappointment I ended up having a very good day exploring the Japanese take on the land of Walt Disney, a must for anyone visiting Tokyo in my opinion (except maybe my father).

Lovely colours in these shots Lou, even though the sun wasn't shining! Lovely!
