Happy Birthday to my little corner of the internet!
I have had a number of different blogs over the years. I originally got started back in high school because I was jealous of the attention a fellow student was getting from our English teacher over his. How far I've come since then. I'm very proud of my website and blog. I used to care a lot about making my blog 'popular' and having lots of people read it. I spent time producing content I didn't really care about because that was what other bloggers were doing and receiving acclaim for (outfit posts anyone?). I didn't realise then that they were receiving acclaim for their original ideas and content and that copying them was going to get me nowhere and make me feel unfulfilled. I started this website after, quite basically, growing out of my old blog and style. I didn't like what I was writing about anymore. Or maybe I never had and only just matured enough to realise it. So I took a break for a long time, then made this website. I decided that I didn't want to produce content for others, only myself. Sure, I love it when people read my stories and explore my photographs, but that has never been the focus for me when posting things on this blog. I post things because I enjoy creating that content, or documenting that experience. I don't post to a deadline or because anyone asks me to. I do it because I love writing stories and taking photographs. So, Happy Birthday Blog, and here's to many more posts in the future. By the way, if you want to see my first post ever here, you can see it here.
