Arrivederci Venezia!

What a shame it was that I did not get to spend a lifetime exploring the twists and turns of Venezia.

Sadly, I had just one day, and that day being in Winter, it ended far too quickly for my liking. Despite being (almost) native Venetian, Giulia managed to get us wonderfully lost (no sarcasm, I love being lost). Upon consulting our map, we realised we were on the opposite side of the island to the train station. Just as Giulia was lamenting over where we were and how to get out of there, she let out a loud exclamation and rattled off a bunch of words in Italian. First I was worried she was speaking to me (my Italian, though better than it was the first trip, is still not quite up to scratch). Then I realised she was speaking to a shaggy-haired absurdly tall and lanky man who we then proceeded to follow. Apparently a friend of Giulia's who lives in Venice, he and his girlfriend led us out of the labyrinth and back to the train station. It was pretty much the perfect end to a lovely day in Italy's city on water.
