Basilica di San Marco

The inside of Saint Mark's Cathedral is just as dazzling as the outside.

Giulia took me in to see the Basilica di San Marco in Venice whilst I was there. It was something I am (almost) sure I did not get to do when I visited the first time. A good thing too, as being more advanced in years than I was then, I am much more likely to appreciate it's beauty now. Beautiful it is. I got a quick shot in of the gorgeous gold and jewelled creation before realising that there was no photography allowed. Oops. It is much more stunning in person. Though not exactly religious, I find churches to be fascinating examples of architecture and art. The Piazza di San Marco is no exception.
