Befana is an old witch, who delivers gifts to children throughout Italy on Epiphany Eve (January 5th). That happens to be the very day we were flying out of Europe. The day before, Melissa and I came across (stumbling upon things seems to be our main travel philosophy) a market filled with lollies and ornaments dedicated to Befana. I bought a witch for my Christmas tree back home, as well as some truly disgusting marzipan hamburgers. Also, I introduced Mel to a delight that Giulia introduced me to back in Padova: Grom hot chocolate. Like all good Italian hot chocolate, it's pretty much just melted chocolate and cream. And boy, is it fantastic.
