Padova has the most beautiful piazza. It is one of the largest in all of Europe. Over Christmas, the fountain in the centre is turned off and a giant Christmas tree made out of fairy lights is set up over the empty pond. It looks so gorgeous all lit up in the evening light. Giulia and I passed through the square almost every day on the tram. One day we walked through a market that was set up in the square. There was everything from socks to christmas ornaments for sale there. The market was full of families out for a bit of shopping. I much more enjoyed the walk through the rest of the square though, observing the people milling about and the statues surrounding the moat.
