Munich was such a delight to wander around. Though it is a city, it felt a lot more homely and welcoming than most. Our (admiringly gorgeous) German guide took us for a wander past fruit markets, churches, Christmas tree stalls and odd little lanes that played an important part in the city's history. Munich certainly turned on the charm for us. Bavaria felt very different to Berlin and the north. I could feel the history here much more keenly, and learnt a great deal too. Next time I want to explore more of the Black Forest area. Whizzing by on a train just wasn't enough!
