A very exciting year! 2017 was a mostly good year for me. I became more at home with my house, travelled overseas and interstate, got a more solid footing sorted at work, read LOADS and began trying things outside of my comfort zone. It was also a very sad year and one I am glad to be saying goodbye to. I want to do more next year, more of... everything. Especially taking photographs! I do not want next year to be another year where I only took photos on my phone some months. It's good to look back on the year and I hope that you enjoy this as much as I did! januaryJanuary 2017 sees me travelling to a country I never thought I would visit: Japan. I start in Tokyo before moving on to Nara, Osaka, Takasago, Himeji, Hiroshima, Kobe and Kyoto. I have a wonderful time, especially because I get to see Melissa. I experience so many unfamiliar things and widen my horizons substantially. FEBRUARYI return home and start work again. Work feels more hectic this year and I mostly take photographs on my phone. When my hard drive crashes later in the year I lose all these photos. MARCHMarch feels lost in the wind. I post about Japan as well as celebrate 4 years on louisebarbara.co! Aside from that, and finally posting my 2016 review, I mostly work work work. Sometimes it feels as if the job I am currently in takes over everything else. APRILI visit Phillip Island with Chantelle. We clamber over rocks and eat curry at a local restaurant. It is cold and getting colder, despite only being Easter. Chantelle is about to get her braces on so we eat as much Easter chocolate as we can before she can't anymore. MAYI go with a lady from work on a photo taking day in Eastern Victoria. We hike most of the day, before ending it with a local photography group, taking photographs in the middle of the night of glowing mushrooms. JUNEI buy myself a new bed, a major feat for me as I have never once bought a bed. I have always either had ones that my father made or old hand-me-downs. It makes me feel very grown up. JULYLiz, Ralph and I visit Wilson's Promontory for a day of exploring and photographs. I take my favourite photos of my sister and her partner ever. Later, during the holidays, I fly to Noosa in Queensland with Chantelle. We shop and read and swim and hike. We visit Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo and I try paddle boarding for the first time. Coming home it feels even colder than before I left and I miss the warmth for the first time ever. AUGUSTI begin a new series on my blog called Currently. It is snippets from daily life about what I am currently enjoying. I like getting to write about the books I am reading. SEPTEMBERI buy a new camera after much deliberating and am immediately in love with it. It is a Canon G7X Mark II. I test it out by taking photos of Marlee, naturally. I take it with me to Inverloch and eat fish and chips by the seaside. OCTOBERIt is the holidays again. Chantelle and I visit the Melbourne Show. I haven't been since I was fifteen, that was ten years ago! Later on in the holidays I visit my Grandfather's partner in her home town. We play golf and I embarrass myself entirely. Mum and I visit the Tulip Festival and marvel once again at the beautiful arrays of flowers. NOVEMBERWork becomes insanely busy and I cope by going on walks with Mum. I put up my Christmas tree early (by about three days) and feel very bad. DECEMBERDespite things at work supposedly slowing down, I feel busier than ever. I attend Christmas parties and dinners out and go to the cinema. We all head up to the city for a family Christmas lunch at Blue Train where we play a hilarious stealing Kris Kringle game. I bring the goldfish home from work and Marlee becomes obsessed with them. She likes to sit on top of the tank and terrify them. We have Christmas at Mum and Dads. Here's to an even better 2018!
